Lessons Learned

Some of you may know that in May Dave started looking for a new job, he wasn't sure if he wanted to stay in the hotel industry or go back to banking. Now for a little history Dave worked for Zions Bank for about 6 yrs. until he finished school in 2006 his degree is in Parks, Recreation and Tourism with an emphasis in hotel management. He was excited about this new field and all the new experiences he would have, so he got a job in Park City at the Marriott. It was really fun and there are a lot of perks working for a hotel, and not to mention the famous people you see in Park City. However after over 2 yrs. of being at the hotel we were disappointed in the opportunities to move up in the company, so we felt like we were coming to a cross roads, that's where the looking for a new job came in. As I finished up teaching in May Dave decided to look for a new job in both fields he looked in hotels and in banking, he wasn't company specific he was open to anything really. We were very excited and thought that he would find something soon. Currently Dave works nights which can be fun sometimes, he gets to spend a lot of time with the boys, and in the summer we would go swimming and have picnics, it was great. However, there are some down sides, nights also include weekend nights so we didn't get to hang out with friends as much as we wanted, or go on any date nights. As well as nights hotels are also open on Holidays, so those were often hard to get off. As the time went on I was getting tired of the single parent gig, so I was very emotionally ready for Dave to get a new job, and so was he. Unfortunately the more anxious we got the worse it got, things were not going well, not only were there not very many openings, but even the ones that were available were not going our way. We tried to stay positive, but it wears on you after a while.

Finally, after many months of things not working out and after a very inspired talk in sacrement meeting we decided it was time to take a break from looking and to just be happy with what we have at the moment. We have a lot to be thankful for and to be happy about; we have two beautiful boys that are cute and hilarious to name a couple of their characteristics, we have a a cute house, a wonderful marriage, the knowledge of the the true and everlasting gospel that guides us everyday, we have fantastic family members that help us out, and great friends to laugh and have fun with. We realized that the Lord had already blessed us with so many things and we needed to be aware of those blessings before we started asking for more. Along with testing our faith we never know why some of our prayers don't get answered with a yes, and we forget that no, or not now, or not that is still an answer, it just might not be the one we want to hear. It is so hard to not know, but then down the road something else happens and it all becomes clear why those previous requests were not granted the way we would have them. The Lord knows what is best for us, and knows what the future will hold, the part that is at times unbearable is the waiting, I've never been a very patient person.

You might be wondering where this is all going, and I suppose I have rambled on long enough. It turns out that as soon as we decided to stop looking for jobs and be happy with the things that we did have, a job finds us, out of the blue. Josie, who Dave used to work with at Zions Bank just got promoted to Branch Manager at the same branch they worked at years ago. She is in need of a Customer Service Manager (CSM) and gave Dave a call to see if he was interested. He thought about it and decided to go in for the interview, he was excited, but had been let down so many times before, he tried not to get too anxious. After a couple of interviews Dave was offered the position and is ecstatic to be returning to the banking industry. We feel like this is the reason that all the others didn't work out, we know that Lord had this in store for us and we just needed to be humble and patient enough to receive it. There will be many new challenges and opportunities that are in store for Dave and our family.

Thanks for listening I know it was long.

Brothers at Play

Today when I was doing some cleaning the boys were playing together in Logan's room, well in the same room but not really playing together. It was so cute I had to take a few pictures. Makay is always following his brother around and trying to keep up with, I can only image how crazy it will be once he starts walking!!

Here's Logan hamming' it up on the camera,
I wonder who he gets that from?

Makay always wondering what's going on.

Our little climber

Makay on the move.

I feel so blessed to have two beautiful boys that love to play and that love each other. What a wonderful life I am blessed with.

Batman and Robin

Halloween 2008 was so fun this year, first because Dave didn't have to work so I didn't have to do the single parent thing for this festive holiday. As you can see from the pictures Logan was Batman and Makay was Robin. Logan was having a great time wearing his Batman costume and mask (which was the best part) and Makay didn't really know what was going on, but he was good to let us cart him around trick-or-treating. My favorite part was listening to Logan say trick-or-treat in his cute little voice.

Since I was determined to have the boys wear their costumes more then once we went to many activities, perhaps to many. Although I think I over scheduled a little bit this gave us a great opportunity to hang out with some friends that we haven't seen in a long time. Thanks for all the fun everyone. I figured this might be the last year that I could pick what Logan got to wear so I thought I would have the costumes be related, and if anyone knows me they know I love for the boys to match, I realize they don't have to match every time. I hope very body had a safe and happy Halloween.
